Case Study: 60 year old diabetic patient with necrotic wound

A 60 year old female with diabetes had a wound on her right ankle. L-Mesitran treatment was started only after 4 weeks of the wound being present. It was confirmed that she had osteomyelitis. The wound showed 90% necrosis at the start of treatment.

This patient was included in a comparative study between honey treatment (L-Mesitran) and conventional methods. During the treatment, paracetamol was occasionally used but no antibiotics or other medication were used.

The ointment was applied on the wound and covered by a regular bandage. The bandages were easily removed upon dressing changes. After 3 weeks, the size of the wound decreased by 50% and after 9 weeks, the patient recovered completely.
